Mikaela Mayer moving up in weight to challenge UK’s Natasha Jonas for IBF welterweight world title.

(Saturday, Jan 20-2024)- 2016 Olympian and former unified world champion Mikaela Mayer (19-1, 5ko) will head overseas to the United Kingdom, to challenge reigning IBF welterweight world champion Natasha Jonas (14-2-1, 9ko) in a bout scheduled for [ten-rounds], set to take place at the M&S Bank Arena, In Liverpool, London.

[“I wanted another shot at a world title, I wanna be in a world title fights”.] said Mayer who is moving up her [third] weight-class to the welterweight division to challenge UK’s Natasha Jonas, the current IBF title holder.

[“This was the most feasible fight for me, and the easiest fight to get done. Katie Taylor was caught up at 135, Chantel Cameroon at 140, and I don’t wanna sit around and wait”.]

Natasha Jonas, (14-2-1, 9ko) is a former 2012 Olympian and has seen continued success in the professional ranks, becoming a two-division world champion by claiming the WBC,WBO & IBF titles at the [154lbs] super welterweight division, and most recently moving down [one] weight class defeating UK’s Kandi Wyatt (11-5, 3ko) for the IBF [147lbs] welterweight world title.

[“I think she’s a good name to have on my record”.] Jonas said about Mayer. [“She’s a good fighter. She’s got amateur pedigree, good knowledge. She’s explosive and quick, she’s got lots of good assets, but weather shes boxes or fights I believe im better”.]
