Lamont Roach Jr wins WBA Jr.Lightweight World Title over Hector Luis Garcia

(Saturday Nov-25,2023)- Lamont Roach Jr (24-1-19ko), the WBA boxing number one ranked contender defeated Jr.Lightweight Champion Hector Luis Garcia (now 16-2,10ko), at the Mandalay Bay Resort, in Las,Vegas, Nevada.

From the opening bell Roach, looked to bring the action to his opponent, asserting himself as the aggressor by landing some hard thudding shots targeted to the body. In the second-round Roach landed a overhand haymaker that appeared to momentarily stun the champion, placing Garcia, hurt and in trouble along the ropes.

However the champion Garcia, would battle back having his moments in the fight being the offensive aggressor, finding success when landing a winding left hand on the 28yr old challenger. In the 12-round Roach Jr, hit the Garcia with a looping left hook to the head that would send the champion to the canvas, the champion would ultimately make it to his feet, beating the count of the referee, sending the fight to the judges, scorecards

Judges scored the bout 114-113, 113-114, 116-111, a split decision victory in favor of Lamont Roach Jr, the new WBA Super-Featherweight World Champion.
