Teofimo Lopez looks to defend WBO title against former amateur foe Jamaine Ortiz

(Thursday, Feb-8, 2024)- “The Takeova” returns, this time against a familiar face. Reigning super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (19-1,13KO) looks to defend his WBO title against world ranked contender Jamaine Ortiz (17-1-1, 8KO) in a scheduled [12-round] clashes of titans, taking place at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las, Vegas Nevada.

After defeating former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor, by unanimous decision in June-of 2023, the 26-yr-old, Lopez looks to begin his 2024 campaign taking on a formidable opponent in Jamaine Ortiz (17-1-1, 8ko). This will be the first fight back in the ring since Lopez announced he was retiring from the sport of boxing, which came immediately after he defeated Taylor for the WBO title in 2023.

Unless you have lived underneath a rock or are just simply new to the sport of boxing you would know the excitement & entertaining Lopez brings to the sport. Teofimo Lopez possesses that [one-punch KO] ability that many fight fans love too see, not only that, he is equally as masterful of a boxer as he is a puncher, leaving fans dazzled.

However, Jamaine Ortiz will be no easy night by any stretch of imagination. The 27-yr-old Ortiz has a nice professional resume of his own. In 2022 Ortiz outclassed former world champion Jamel Herring(24-4, 12KO), winning by unanimous decision. Then later on that same year Ortiz took to battle against the legendary Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11KO, in a fight where Ortiz would suffer his first and sole career loss via a [12-round] UD.

In the Co-feature of the evening 2020-Olympic silver-medalist Keyshawn Davis (9-0, 6ko), will meet former two-time world champion Jose Pedraza (29-5-1, 14ko), in a bout scheduled for [ten rounds] of action. For 24yr-old Davis, a victory over a proven veteran fighter such as Pedraza (who would be the toughest opponent to date for Davis) sends the statement to the top names in the lightweight division that he is the true and ready contender that he claims to be. Meanwhile the former world champ will look to foil the plans of the young hungry prospect.
