WBA #1 contender Lamont Roach Jr to challenge Hector Luis Garcia for Jr.Lightweight World Title.

(Saturday, November-25-2023)- WBA Boxing (#1 Ranked) Jr.Lightweight contender Lamont Roach Jr (23-1-1,9ko), will look to challenge the crown of reigning Jr.Lightweight Champion Hector Luis Garcia (16-1,10ko), in a scheduled 12-round WBA World Title attraction, set to take place at the Michelob Ultra Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Promoted by TBG Promotion & Sampson Boxing.

This bout will open the televised portion of a stacked ShowTime PPV card headlined by undefeated Super-Middleweight Champions David Benavidez (27-0, 23ko) & Demetrius Andrade (32-0,19ko).

Lamont Roach Jr, 28yr old, native of Washington D.C, who’s fight style can be best described as a “boxer-puncher” has made his reemergence as (#1 Contender) by compiling a four-fight win streak. Over the course of his last four-fights Roach Jr had looked to make the statement in the ring wanting to be viewed as more than just a boxer, defeating two of his last four opponents by way of knockout. In December, 2021, Roach Jr won the NABA Jr.Lightweight Championship with a Unanimous Decision victory over a tough veteran Rene Alvarado.

Roach Jr has improved his record to (23-1-1, 9ko) since suffering his sole career loss, coming in a world title match against then WBO World Champion Jamel Herring, in November of 2019.

For the Champion Hector Luis Garcia (16-1,10ko), this would make just his second fight of the 2023 calendar year. Garcia is (3W-1L) over his last four bouts, most recently having suffered a ninth-round TKO stoppage, in a bout where he moved up [one-weight class to 135lbs] to challenge WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27ko) early in January, of 2023.

Prior to facing defeat the 32yr old, Dominican south-paw sent waves through the boxing world, defeating then WBA interim World Champion Chris Colbert (17-1, 6ko) in emphatic fashion February, of 2022. Then later that year in August, defeating WBA Champion Roger Gutierrez (27-5-1, 21ko) to become the newest crowned WBA Jr. Lightweight World Champion.

Like the famous boxing adage goes “Styles Make Fights”. Will the younger, hungry challenger be able to out-class the dominican southpaw, or will the Champion defend his crown?
