Ennis stops Avanesyan in successful hometown title defense.

(July-13, 2024)— Jaron “Boots” Ennis (32-0, 29ko), successfully defended his IBF welterweight world title, in his hometown of Philadelphia, defeating former world champion David Avanesyan now (30-5-1, 18ko), by [5th-round] TKO after the ringside physician determined Avanesyan had taken enough punishment while still in the corner before the opening bell of round-six.

This was Ennis’s first time back in the ring after about a years lay-off,

[ “It was a good performance, good comeback fight. I haven’t fought in a year.. so It felt good to be back in the ring..felt good to be home”.] Ennis said.

His promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned that fans could expect to see him back in the ring before the end of the year.
