The king keeps his crown as Canelo defeats Munguia.

(Saturday, May 4, 2024)— Fans got to see a fire-fight take place between two of Mexico’s biggest stars, when undisputed [168lbs] king, Canelo Alvarez, took on undefeated Jamie Munguia, in Las, Vegas for Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Early in the fight it was evident Munguia’s game plan was to earn the respect of the champion. Munguia looked to effectively work from behind his jab, landing good combinations which caught the attention of Alvarez.

As things between the two fighters progressed, the pressure of Munguia, would appear be costly, as Alvarez, was able to land a huge right hand uppercut which floored Munguia in round-four, appearing to be a pivotal turning point in the fight.

However, the challenger did recover and continued to give a strong showing of heart against the champion, but the power of Alvarez appeared to be to much, as he was able to land vicious body shots that appeared to alter the attack of Munguia at times. The experienced counter-punching of the champion Alverez, was a major factor, effectively landing with the more effective blows, and ultimately helping to secure a unanimous decision victory in his favor over the young contender.
