Mystics guard Brittney Sykes voted 2023 WNBA All-Defensive First Team.

On September 22,2023- Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes was selected First Team All-Defense when the league announced its selection for WNBA All-Defensive honors.

This will make the fourth consecutive season that Sykes has received WNBA All-Defensive honors, and the second time in her career receiving a All-Defensive First Team selection.

Sykes, finished (third) is this seasons “Defensive Player of the Year” voting behind Connecticut Suns, Alyssa Thomas (second) & reigning Defensive Player of The Year A’Ja Wilson, ( Las Vegas Aces) who will win the D.P.O.Y award for the second consecutive season, after finishing (First) in voting for the 2023 season.

Sykes, aka “Slim” just rounded out her seventh season in the WNBA and first season with the Washington Mystics. In her first season in Washington, the Mystics guard posted new career-highs in just about all major statistical categories, seeing a (15.9pts), (5 Reb) & (3.9 Ast) per game regular season average.

In the Mystics first-round playoff series against the NY Liberty, Sykes averaged 15-points per game and was the teams leading rebounder averaging 8-Rebounds per game, while also seeing a team high in minutes played per game (39 Min).
