Haney remains undisputed king with a statement win over Loma.

(May 19th, Las Vegas) undisputed lightweight king Devin Haney (29-0), defended his championship titles against one of the most prominent fighters of the generation, Vasiliy Lomacheko (17-2), at the MGM Grand Hotel.

As the hours heading into fight night dwindled down on what seemed to be a routine fight week, things got heated at the weigh-in. As the two fighters took center stage for a fighter face-off, Devin Haney shouted in the face of Loma “You’re to small!” before shoving the Ukrainian fighter, a move that sent waves around the boxing world.

“He’s mine! Now he’s mine!” Lomachenko said referring to Haney.

From the opening bell Haney looked to assert his presence by establishing his jab and targeting the body off the elusive two-time Olympic gold medalist. A fighter that usually takes a few rounds to process his opponent Lomacheko shifted into gear early, landing a bunch of effective punch flurries, making it a tough night for the defending champion.

After a hard fought 12-rounds, things went to the scorecards with many fight fans on the edge of the seats pending the decision of the judges scores to be read. “116-112”, followed by two judges scoring it “115-113”, ruling it a unanimous decision victory in favor of Devin Haney, who retained is titles and improved to (30-0) and adding a stamp to his legacy after defeating the sure future Hall of Famer, Vasiliy Lomachenko.
