Paro pulls major upset defeating Matias in Puerto Rico.

( June 15, 2024– Manati, Puerto Rico)—

“AND THE NEW!” Those are three words that every title challenger dreams of hearing, and on Saturday night that dream would come true for Australias Liam Paro.

Paro, headed into the backyard of Puerto Rico, and won a Unanimous Decision victory over one of the most dangerous fighters not just in his division, but in the entire sport of boxing in Subriel Matias, upsetting the champion in his hometown return to win the IBF jr. welterweight World championship.

Paro, who’s record now improves to (25-0, 15ko), would outperform the champion by generating a higher volume of punch output, along with using his ring movement to create angles in efforts to control the power of Matias.

In the post fight interview the champion Matias would make no excuse for his lackadaisical performance,

“Excuses are for loser, so im not going to make excuses”.

Said Matias who’s record now falls to (20-2, 20ko).
