“Idols turn rivals” as Estrada looks to defend title against Rodriguez.

(June- 29, 2024)— Defending WBC Super Flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada (44-3, 28ko), will take on one of boxing rising stars Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (19-0, 12ko), in a scheduled [12 round] main-event, taking place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, promoted by Matchroom Boxing.

Estrada, 34, is a former two-division world champion who has battled against some of the most premier names within his division, most notably known for his epic trilogy battle against “Chocolatito” Roman Gonzalez, holding a 2-1 series lead over Gonzalez in their three meetings. Estrada, is coming off a year and half layoff outside of the ring since he last defeated Roman Gonzalez, for the vacant WBC super flyweight championship in 2022. For Estrada, the future HOFer hopes to rely on his experience, IQ and power to school the young hungry challenger on fight night.

Rodriguez,(AKA) “Bam” is one of the top P4P fighters in the sport to date. In his 19-fight career the 24-year old has compiled an impressive resume inside the ring. In just a little under two years Rodriguez, would capture his first world title after moving up two-weight divisions on just one weeks notice to win a UD victory over Carlos Cuadras, going on to win the (vacant) WBC super flyweight championship. In April, 2023, “Bam” would defeat Cristian Gonzalez Hernandez, to win the (vacant) WBO flyweight world title, and most recently in December of 2023, Rodriguez would stop unbeaten IBF world title holder Sunny Edwards, in a flyweight title unification match to become the new IBF & WBO unified World flyweight Champion.
